What would your life be like at 80?

I love that it’s not only my kids who learn from our trips. I do too.

While gathering information about my uncle and aunt for their 80th birthday celebration, I was amazed by their accomplishments. Dra. Dorothy Ann B. Pulido, my mom’s sister, practiced family medicine for many years. She sat in the boards of the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines and Philippine Association of Family Physicians. She was the medical director of the Ilioilo Mission Hospital. Now at age 80, she is a member of the Central Philippine University Corporation and of the Iloilo Mission Hospital Board of Trustees.

Dr. Agustin A. Pulido, Jr. became Chemistry Department Head in the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He also became the Dean in UP-Iloilo. He was President of Central Philippine University in Iloilo for 25 years. Then he was President of Silliman University in Dumaguete for 10 years. Last year, they named a building after him.  He is currently the Chairman of the Cenral Philippine University Board of Trustees.

They raised two beautiful daughters while doing all that, and they now have 4 intelligent and talented grandchildren, which make them more proud and happy than any of their accomplishments. Wow! And at age 80! To be strong in mind and in body at this age is just astounding.

I am inspired! I am 34 years old now and I do not have any accomplishments comparable to theirs when they were my age, but I want to be like them when I reach 80! I want to contribute to society and make an impact in my country in my own way — and that is through my family and my ministry in church.

Happy 80th birthday Tita Ninay and Tito Big! You guys are a great inspiration and a great example to many. God bless you, and continue enjoying your bonus years! 🙂
