Noelle’s 1 year & 8 months old, and getting cuter and cuter by the day! She throws a mean tantrum, but when she’s in a good mood, which is more often than not, she’s just the sweetest thing! She talks a lot now and mimics what she hears people say. She’s asking a lot of “why,” “dat” (what’s that?), “abowt” (how ’bout?) and “doeen” (what are you doing?) lately. She speaks in short sentences already too, except there’s a 1-second delay between words. There used to be a 2-second lag, but she has improved already haha.
When we were in CDO, she would say “touch….him” meaning she touched the dog. She’d say “ish…tayo” meaning she wanted to go look at the fish. She’d tell the dog named Bullet, “Buwet…no!” (complete with her cute nguso/pouty lips). At the airport, she came to me, telling on her Ate, saying “Ate…push…me!” Danae apologized and when I was playfully running away from her, she reached her hand out and said, “hold…me.” Cute!
Noelle’s got great manners. At the dining table, after asking me to “eat…tayo…pood” (eat food), she would ask me to “dit” (sit) with her and “epen….peyt” (open my plate). When it’s time to pray, she will call her Ate and wait till Danae puts her hands together to pray. After her “eman” (amen), she’ll say “yice…pees” (rice please) or “oop…pees” (soup please) and afterward she’ll say “toochoo/techoo…mom” (thank you, mom). Sometimes she tells me to eat, saying “you…aaah.” She asks for “wote…pees” (water), likes to get her cup and to make us get our cups so we could “chees!” (cheers). If she doesn’t like something, she’ll shake her head and say “yike” (don’t like), and if she sees somebody drinking soda, she says “toda…you” while shaking her head (soda, not for you — meaning soda is not for her). If she wants to pass or get something and you’re in the way, she’ll say “toos…me” (excuse me). Oh, but she likes to eat with her fingers haha. So much for manners.
Noelle loves Danae. She’s the first person Noelle looks for when she wakes up, but when she wakes up first, she’s always ready to say “mawnin!” to Danae, even if she were waking up from an afternoon nap. When she’s going to eat, take a bath, go outside or whatever, she always says, “Ate…mon!” (Ate, c’mon!). She likes to include her sister. When we give her food that she asks for, she always says “Ate…oto” (Ate also). When she takes a bath first, she always says “Ate…ten” when she’s done, meaning it’s Ate’s turn. When Danae drinks her medicine, she also wants to have her turn and says “me…ten.”
Noelle loves to pretend to “took” (cook)! She sets up her cookware at the side of the bed and she could be there for 30 minutes, enjoying herself. She tells me to “do dat” (do that) and cups her hands around her face, which means she wants me to lie on my belly, cup my face with my hands and watch her. She and Danae like to play the “miss” or “miss po” game, where there’s a customer and a saleslady or waitress. Noelle copies Danae when Danae takes my order and spells out words. She tells me to “weet” (wait), pretends to cook and then serves us food, giving us “pok” (fork) and “poon” (spoon). Noelle even pretends to wash dishes in their play kitchen. It’s so much fun watching my girls play in peace, most especially when they play together peacefully!
Noelle has an R problem. She can’t say it! When she wants to borrow, she’ll say “bayo.” When she’s pretending to be a leader or something, she says “duys, pawo me” (guys, follow me!). Oh wait, that doesn’t have an R in it haha. Anyway, she says “bed” for bread, “wom” for room, “hoys” for horse, “hin” for hair, “chen” for chair, “mon” for more, “yado” for champorado!
When Noelle hears a honk, she sometimes gets excited and says, “daddy…hom” (daddy’s home!). But then I usually tell her that it’s not daddy, to which she responds “opis?….meetin?” (he’s in the office? in a meeting?) hahaha. Isn’t she clever? But clearly, she has a P problem too!
Noelle is also a girlie girl! She loves to put chapstick and pretend to put make up while looking at herself in the mirror. She loves to pose for the camera, even with her now more-so chipped tooth. She likes bags! She carries them around like a little mommy, says “bye” and blows us a kiss. When you ask her where she’s going, she says “hom” (home) haha, very opposite from Danae who answered Eh Em (SM) or Betee (Festi) when she was little.
Noelle is getting to be quite a character. She makes us laugh all the time. She’s more “tagalog” than Danae was at her age, thanks to our manang here. Noelle uses “tayo” a lot and when she tells me to come, she says “ka!” (lika!) haha. She says “wag” (don’t), “pa” (meron pa) or “nana” (wala na) too. She knows how to appreciate things, like when she saw my shoes the other night. She told me “nice…shoes…mom.” Breastfeeding still equates to happiness! She still gets excited every single time! And for some weird reason, she likes to lay in my arms and pretend to be a baby…..as if she’s not! She frequently says “eeew, yuck” and when she smells somebody’s fart, she automatically says “otot….tetee” (stinky) and brings her fore finger to her nose. hahahahaha. My girls are super fun and super funny. How I love them! 🙂
